Time is irrelevant, it only exists on Earth. It does not exist in Space. Look up into the sky tonight and you may see a star shinning bright which has actually died thousands of years ago. This happens because by the time the light catches up to you (light years) the star has already burned out long before, but may continue to cast it's light. It is basically a system we use on Earth to run things in a balanced system to keep track of days, months, seasons, and years.
