It seems to me that a lot of you have no idea what it takes to be picked in the top of the draft. For one thing, none of you have taken into consideration what some of the team needs are. Some of you don't even have the right draft order.
PS. Troy Smith will never be a starting Quarterback in the NFL.

To analyze the NFL and try to pick who is going to what team is extremely tough. Even the so-called football experts have a hard time trying to figure this out. You not only have to know the teams that are drafting, but you also have to have a very good idea what talent is available. Pro scouts have a hard job in that they travel around the country to many college games, plus look at an awful lot of film on college teams to try to decide who is the best choice for their team. As a fan, you have an idea what team needs what by obtaining information on the different websites and through the many sports magazines. After getting all this info, you then make an educated guess on who is going where. Even the experts aren't always right!

It is too early to say that Troy Smith will never be a starting QB in the NFL. There are so many injuries to the QB in professional football that the second string QB often can start. I am with you 100% that he doesn't have the talent to be a starter, at least for right now he doesn't. His performance in the Senior Bowl was terrible, although nobody really cares about a Senior Bowl performance. He should get drafted in the third round and I think he will battle for the backup job whereever he goes. He's still a Heisman Trophy winning QB so don't count him out yet.

Hey Smith42...your reading the wrong Websites! where did you get such an inflated view of your abilities as an independent Football Scout??

I've had a press pass to the draft for 20 years. For 12 years(from87 to 98) i put out a Draft Guide(and not some B.S. printed on Some kids H.S. loose leaf paper-A printed Book with1200-1500 players rated Each Year). I contribute to a Website and podcast rated the #1 Ind. Football podcast according to Yahoo podcasts page(with over 10,000 Dl'sa month) Fieldposition.com, and a blog rated in the top 10 as a source for footballl news by the washington post, USA today, and Football Digest(nflbiz.blogspot.com) I have coached at the H.S., Semi-pro, and College Levels for a total of 13 years, and am a member of the pro football researchers assn. and the American football coaches assn. So instead of critizing people for that they feel and know, why do you do what i do? watch 3-5 hrs of Tape on college players everyday from December to March(that you taped every saturday from August to January on your three DVR's while you were out coaching on saturday's and covering NFL games on Sunday's) then you can claim to know at least as much as People like Pat Kirwan, John Clayton, Mike Mayock, or even Yahoo's own John Murphy(all people i l know personally) or if you get to be my age one day you might even get to be almost as smart as they are, or at least as smart as i am regarding football.(P.S. i'm still learning after 40+ years of watching)

Good luck

I havent answered any draft questions as of yet, but Troy Smith WILL be a starting QB in the NFL. He probably wont be a GOOD starter, but he will get the opportunity.

Hey i find that accusation extremely offensive. I watch football whenever it is on. I do my own mock drafts and think of myself as an extremely knowledgeable sports fan. I agree that Smith will never be a starter, I dont think he should even get consideration until the 3rd round.

hey there vegas boy, i'm sure that we all know you watch every game only because you put money on every game played. hey, good for you, but i actually watch games to see the competition. let me guess, your favorite player is Terrell "Titbaby" Owens?
the only intelligent thing you said in your statement was the fact that Troy Smith will never be a stater in the NFL. He'll be lucky to be choosen in the third round. i actually see him going in the late 4th-early 5th. But you know what, he'll make a great starter in the CFL
