My God my Dear Grandad
You have been taken from us
And we are lost and in a heap
Of sadness and remorse at your passing
How will we ever replace
The love and humour with which you
Have showered us all these years
And how will we enter your room
And not have the grief well up within us
Since you have gone away
Life will change now
And slowly I will remember who you are
Even in Spirit you speak with me and strengthen
My resolve to follow your lead and to smile upon others
And to be slow to anger as you were
And to love animals and nurture them so they
Would never be in need
And to respect, honour and serve others
Just as you did
May I follow on your magnificent path
Until one day when I am no longer fourteen
I can look back and know that everything
That has made me love you all these years
I have taken within me to care for myself and others
Your life and your love have been like iron and fire to keep me
Steady when I am lost, my little boat on a vast sea,
And strong enough to endure the uncertainties
Of my own inner strengths and unfolding visions
When I will remember to look even deeper
And to remember you and then I will
Feel that strength coming into every single bit of me
And I will recognize once and for all
The value you have always held out for me to accept
In my heart, in my mind and in the way God may guide my life
It is to you, Dear Grandfather that I offer these few
Words from the humblest part of myself,
That one day I might be some small fraction
Of the man I have had the privilege of knowing
And calling
My dearest and most beloved Grandfather.
Thank you.
Amen.

Hiya My thoughts are with you , but as a mum what are u doing up so late? I know how u are feeling, i lost my Nana at your age. The trouble is that you cannot ask people for poems about your granddad when they have no Idea who he was and what he was like. Only you know that, if you cannot write a poem of your own, then go to the library and read some poetry books until u come across one that is suitable. Some one like Keats, Byron or even look up " I shall return" by Claude McKay. Hope you are going to be OK.

young man if the poem is in you, all you need do is write. Think about your life with your grand father, this will help you collect your thoughts.Write them on paper then you have information to draw from for the poem. Remember you,re not shakespeare so no one is expecting that of you ,just do your best and your family will love you for it. Also you will not be graded on this (smile)

Well, I know where you are coming from. But remember you don't have to rhyme a poem!! It can just be about what you did with your Granddad, why you loved him, etc. I am very sorry he passed away.

The easiest poems to write are Acrostic poems...
Spell out your grandfather's name....
Write a sentence for each letter of his name...which is what I do, or a friend of mine just writes a one word description of him.
Don't worry about how it sounds to someone else....Use your grief to find the good things you enjoyed about him. It will also help you in the grieving process.

Example: for Guy
G reat person he is
U niquely qualified.
Y oung and gifted too.

Or:
G reat
U nique
Y ou

How Lucky to Have Had So Good a Grand-Father

How lucky to have had so good a grandfather!
On us his warm, unstinting sun long shone.
We were, of his hardworking life, the center,
Loved for the pure joy of love alone.
Uncanny are the requisites of pleasure,
Coming as they do within the will.
Knowing well where lay his greatest treasure,
Years on years of love he labored still.

It's better if it comes from you rather then random people on Yahoo! Answers. Just say how you felt about your Grandfather, what your relationship was like and how much you will miss him. It doesn't even have to rhyme, just as long as it comes from the heart.
