This is a simple historical "accident" --- for centuries, during most of the Middle Ages and Rennaissance, and after, many of the most intelligent Christian children entered Holy Orders in the Catholic Church, and became Brothers, Priests, or Nuns. Therefore their genetic heritage was lost, since they didn't reproduce. But in the Jewish religion marriage and having children is encouraged for all believers, and the most intelligent and intellectual children also might have become Rabbis, who always marry, and have children, so their genetic heritage continues into the present, and isn't lost to history.
