You probably mean "what is 80% of 40"? this would be .8*40 which equals (8/10)x40=4/5x40=160/5=32... so 32 is the amswer

basically the unknown variable is x.
So this problem is asking what is x given that x/40 = .8
So you multiply .8 and 40.
So 40*.8 = 32
