Is there a way I can start over on my computer to make it runs faster. Just start over and reinstall the programs without having to take it to a professional or buy some software. If so how?? I had someone try to tap into my computer files because I have wireless.

You can clean your temporary files, internet cache, cookies from the browsers you use.

Defragment, Remove unused applications, check the applications windows is starting at the login (on the start menu/startup/) folder.

Remove files that you don't use or use to much (keeping a backup copy of them on a DVD or CD)

Clean your Registry with CCleaner or any other Good program that does this.

Check your machine for Adware and other things like that.

Hope this helps.

First of all I would say there is no need to start over. Many people will tell you "Oh just reformat your hard drive" but some of these people are kind of mean and they know when you restart it you won't be able to get it running again.

So here are the things you can do to make it run faster. You can do it all yourself without spending a dime.

1. Get a program called QUICKSTARTUP found here free
http://www.glarysoft.com/

2. Then make sure you don't have a slow antivirus program. Those really slow your computer down. I have expensive computers and all I use is the program ANTIVIR which is free too.

What you do first and in this order, is this.
1. Download the antivirus program here but do not install it yet.
http://www.free-av.com/

2. Then once its downloaded uninstall your current antivirus program
3. Then install the new one

This you will notice will free up memory making your computer a lot less sluggish.

3. Download Tune up utilities here. Although it is free and fully working for only 30 days, it will only take you 1 time to speed up your computer. It even has a function there that speeds up your internet. Download it here below at
http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/

4. Also go to this site here using Internet explorer only, and run the free scan and free virus adware removal. Go to
http://www.trendmicro.com

Do a System Restore. Go to START> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools and choose System Restore. Choose a date that is before the problems started and restore the computer to that point.

Don't go too far back in time or you may lose updates.

This is usually a last resort option ... don't use it lightly!

Good Luck!

*** System Recovery F-10***

To get your computer back to looking like new, do "a system recovery"
My windows XP, was already loaded on my computer, when I bought it. These instructions, will clean everything off of your hard drive, so you must back up anything that you want to save. I have done this three times, and I got these instructions, from a computer tech. When starting your computer, tap the F-10 key. click on next-yes-and follow the instructions, that come up on your screen. When you are finished, your computer, will look just like it did, when you first bought it. Do these steps, in order, when finished.
1. set up windows firewall, in control panel
2. windows update (click express)
3. install your anti-virus program (update)
4. install anti-spyware (update)
Good Luck..
