Okay. If there were 25 hours in a day instead of 24, how would that affect the age of a 34 year old person?

Yeah, this is a really tricky question. I have been trying to figure it out for some time now.

I hope I got the right answer.

I tried to make it as simple as i could so everyone could understand my solution.

PLEASE TRY TO READ THROUGH TO THE END IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND IT. THANK YOU.

Assuming the person is 34yrs this year, this means he was born in 1973.

1 day = 24hrs.,
1 yr = 365 days and 365.25 days in a leap year.

Using normal years,

34 yrs = 34x365x24
= 297,840 hrs

Assuming one day = 25 hours, we have:

(297,840/ 365) / 25 = 32.64 yrs.

So the person will be 32.64 yrs assuming there are no leap years.

Now to the tricky part. If I make a mistake, I hope someone will help me correct it.

Assuming we take into consideration the leap years and use 24 hrs.

There were 8 leap years between 1973 and 2007.

(8x366.25x24hrs = 70,320 hrs.)
+
(26x365x24 hrs = 22,7760 hrs)

Total No. of hours = 298,080 hrs. = 12420 days

But a normal year at 24 hrs is 297,840 hrs = 12410 days.

Difference is (298080 - 297840)hrs = 240 hrs = 10 days.

240 hrs if there were 25hrs a day = 9.6 days

Remember the person will be 32.64 years old in normal years at 24hrs a day.

32.64 years = 32.64x365 days = 11913.6 days

11913.6 days + 10 days (from the leap yr) = 11923.6 days

11923.6 days = 32.67 years.

So I guess the person will be 32.67 yrs when the leap years are taken into account and

32.64 yrs when they are not.

In general, the average age for a 34 year old person assuming there were 25 hours in a day instead of 24 is 32.6 years.

I hope my answer wasn't too boring.

If there were 25 hours in a day from the day you were born under the 24 hour day calendar, then as a 34 year old under a 24 day calendar, you'd be 517 days, or a year and a half older under a 25 hour/day calendar.

Looked at another way, you'd just be a 34 years old under whichever calendar you were born under.

It just goes to prove Einstein's point that time is relative. So, just enjoy your life however you count the hours.

34 years = 12410 days

If a day were 25 hours instead of 24, they would have lived an additional 12,410 hours

12,410 hours = 517 days = 1 year, 5 months, 2 days

The person would actually be 35 years, 5 months, and 2 days older.

first off, one of the definitions of a day is The 24-hour period during which the earth completes one rotation on its axis. now if that happened to take 25 hrs. then it would make no difference in the persons age, yet life expectancy would be a bit shorter. now if a day was a man made series of measurement with no scientific explanation at all then this would be the answer....

24 x 365.25 = 8766 hrs. per year... x 34 yrs. = 298044 (298044 now represents the age in hrs.)

25 x 365.25 = 9131.25 hrs. per year... / 298044 = answer "32.64"

There could be 2 hours in a day and it is still a day. The moon has everything to say about this subject. An hour is just a measurement of time.

Well unless they change the number of days in a year as well then they are still 34

Easy. Just work with days. There is 365.25 days per year wth a 24 hour day. So calculate number of days a year when 1 day = 25 hours. Then just divide total days lived by number of days per year.

Once again that's how Eazy duz it!!!!

It wouldn't make any difference........ a day would still be a day, and a year would still be a year, so a 34 year old person would still be 34 years old.

They would be younger than 34.
