What do I say to the cashier or where do I go to ask for the application? How do I ask for it? And lastly, how do I make a good impression?

If you're going to places that have cashiers and not a Human Resources department, start by asking for the manager.

When you meet the manager say
"Hi my name is ----. I'm here to inquire about possible employment opportunities and I wanted a chance to meet you personally. May I have an application?"

Use a good strong handshake, make eye contact and use good grammar. If the manager is not there when you pick up the application, try to meet them when you drop off the app. I always asked directly for the manger when picking up or dropping off applications. It shows you have initiative. Dress professionally too. Even if it is a job where you wear a uniform, look your best. No jeans or flip flops.

Dress smart and be polite and friendly, you never get a second chance to make a good first impression. If there is no obvious 'Information Desk' or anyone to ask, ask a regular cashier. 'May I have an application form for the position of...........?'
or 'Can you tell me where I can get an application form for the position of......................?'
Before you get invited to interview do some research on the company and good questions to ask during interviews. There's lts of advice online about what questions you might reasonably expect to be asked. Go prepared and if you can't remember questions/answers, write them down. Preparation is vital in minimising nerves. On the day arrive no more than 10 minutes early and if you get the chance use the bathroom. Make sure you are clean and presentable in smart clothes and clean shoes. Speak clearly and sit up with shoulders back, leaning forward slightly to indicate your interest. Meet the interviewers eyes and if you don't know the answer to a question or need to think, stall for time by sipping water or asking for time to think about your answer. Good luck.

First off all you are doing is getting the application......you don't have to sell yourself until you fill it out and get the interview....but do be polite and clean

Go to the customer service counter. Wear nice clothes, have a pen and all the information (Id., references and such) and smile and be friendly. Good luck.
