NANO 2ND GENERATION SILVER... MOSTLY IF U R ON A BUDGET

It depends on what you'll be using your iPod for, and how much music you intend to put on it.

If you want to use your iPod to simply listen to about 100 of your favorite songs, and that's it, get the Shuffle (but don't lose it).

If you want to listen to between 250 and 1500 of your songs, go with the nano. However, do not get the black 8gb nano, because it costs the same as an iPod video, which is better...lots better... Also note that nano's do not play videos.

If you want to listen to over 2000 of your songs, and watch videos as well, go with the iPod video. There are two options for an iPod video: 30gb and 80gb. the 30gb will hold about 40% of the content that the 80gb one will. However, if you are casually considering an ipod, and want a video, get the 30 gb one because it's smaller, and you'll probably never fill it up anyway.

Anyway good luck with your iPod purchase...

If you like to listen to books, and view movies etc than the video that is what I have and I love it but if I wasn't interested in all the extra stuff(the video stuff) than it would have been a waste of money. I ready don't suggest the shuffle unless it is on sale because it is very limited compared to the Nano and video models.

VIDEO! There are tons of things you can do on a video that nano doesn't have. For example games like PAC-MAN, Tetris, Vortex, Mini-Golf, and more! Also, you can watch music video, TV shows, full-length movies and video podcasts. On average, nanos don't provide enough space if you have around 100 cd's and plan to get more. Of course, the only downside is they scratch easier but besides that, the video is the best iPod out there.

iPod nano Gallery
All new, from the inside out. See the gallery for the completely redesigned iPod nano.
A thinner design. Five stylish colors. A brighter display. Up to 24 hours of battery life. Just about the only thing that hasn’t changed is the name. In 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB models starting at $149, iPod nano puts up to 2,000 songs in your pocket.1
Look like a rock star
Your music says a lot about you. So should your iPod nano. A super-slim design says you always have room for music — up to 2,000 songs, in fact. Durable anodized aluminum says you won’t let the rough and tumble of everyday life ruin your groove. And one of five colors says whatever you want. Choose your hue and make a statement.
Carry a tune (or 2,000)
Choose a 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB iPod nano and add a soundtrack to your life. Just use iTunes to import your CDs, shop for 99¢ songs on the iTunes Store, then sync them to iPod nano. Possibly the world’s coolest photo album, iPod nano holds up to 25,000 snapshots.2 iPod nano plays audiobooks and podcasts from the iTunes Store, too.
Play more encores
Imagine what you could do in a day. Fly around the world. Watch two sunsets. Listen to your iPod nano. Up to 24 hours of battery life3 means the hits just keep on coming. Whether you’re exercising, commuting, or rocking a road trip, iPod nano may just outplay you.
Light up the stage
While it can't stop the rain, iPod nano might make your day a bit brighter. 40% brighter, to be exact. Album art pops and slideshows stun on the iPod nano’s dazzling display. That means everything looks as good as it sounds.
Go on tour
Add accessories and your music stays with you at home and on the go. Of course, iPod nano itself makes a great accessory. Wear up to 2,000 songs around

It all depends on what you like! For me - The Video. I like lots of space and the best kind of anything but to some people, it is probably to much $$$. I will give you all the info on iPods.

Shuffle -
Colors: Orange, Green, Blue, Pink, Silver
Capacity: 1GB (240 songs)
Price: $80

Nano -
Colors: Red, Green, Blue, Pink, Silver, Black
Capacity: 2GB (500 songs), 4GB (1,000 songs), 8GB (2,000 songs) **only comes in black
Price: 2GB=$150, 4GB=$200, 8GB=$250

Video -
Colors: Black & White
Capacity: 30GB (7,500 songs & 250 hours of video), 80GB (20,000 songs & 500 hours of video)
Price: 30GB=$250, 80GB=$350

I reccomend the video to people who want lots of space and the biggest and best thing. I reccomend the nano to people who want a durable iPod with some space. I reccomend the iPod shuffle who doesn't need much and is very simple! Good luck!

Only buy the shuffle if you can memorize the order of your songs. Get an iPod video.

If you get a red nano though, you can contribute against AIDS in Africa.

The iPod shuffle is good to run... the iPod video is good for long trips and putting videos, and lots of songs. But personaly i like the iPod Mini. Its not to big or small and its just perfect. But theres a down side, there very fragile and the battery is not too good.

The shuffle lacks visual cues as to what's on deck, and a playlist, which I consider essential if you have a hundred songs loaded.

Go nano.
