It's a metaphor for my internal search for a truer meaning to the deeper question that has plagued me since childhood.
Or, it's an expression of my deep seated insecurity, and anxiety, and that I try to hide those things through the use of everyday objects to deflect from my self perceived character flaws.
Maybe I've just put too much thought into this answer, and lost touch with the essence of the question.
