No, even if there is zero attraction the opposite sex thing still keeps it from being like a normal same sex friendship. And usually one of the people involved wishes it wasn't a just friends thing.

I definitely think you can. At least from my side of it... maybe not the guys? I don't know. But i have quite a few guy friends that are strictly platonic relationships. I mean i think that the thought always crosses your mind.."would we work together?" but there's LOTS of times that the answer is a definite NO and then the thought never comes back.

Not possible. I enter, as evidence, a portion of the script from the great Rob Reiner classic, "When Harry Met Sally":
Harry: You're a very attractive person.
Sally: Thank you.
Harry: Amanda never said how attractive you were.
Sally: Well may be she doesn't think I'm attractive.
Harry: I don't think it's a matter of opinion, empirically you are attractive.
Sally: Amanda is my friend.
Harry: So?
Sally: So you're going with her.
Harry: So?
Sally: So you're coming on to me!
Harry: No I wasn't. What?
Harry: Can't a man say a woman is attractive without it being a come-on? Alright, alright, let's just say just for the sake of argument that it WAS a come-on. What do you want me to do about it? I take it back, ok? I take it back.
Sally: You can't take it back.
Harry: Why not?
Sally: Because it's already out there.
Harry: Oh geez, what are we suppose to do, call the cops? It's already out there.
Sally: Just let it lie, ok?
Harry: Great! Let it lie. That's my policy. That's what I always say, let it lie. Wanna spend the night at a motel? See what I did? I didn't let it lie.
Sally: Harry.
Harry: I said I wouldn't and I didn't.
Sally: Harry.
Harry: I went the other way.
Sally: Harry.
Harry: What?
Sally: We are just going to be friends, ok?
Harry: Great! Friends! It's the best thing.
Harry: You realize of course that we can never be friends.
Sally: Why not?
Harry: What I'm saying is... and this is not a come-on in any way, shape or form, is that men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way.
Sally: That's not true, I have a number of men friends and there's is no sex involved.
Harry: No you don't.
Sally: Yes I do.
Harry: No you don't.
Sally: Yes I do.
Harry: You only think you do.
Sally: You're saying I'm having sex with these men without my knowledge?
Harry: No, what I'm saying is they all want to have sex with you.
Sally: They do not.
Harry: Do too.
Sally: They do not.
Harry: Do too.
Sally: How do you know?
Harry: Because no man can be friends with a woman he finds attractive, he always wants to have sex with her.
Sally: So you're saying that a man can be friends with a woman he finds unattractive?
Harry: Nuh, you pretty much wanna nail them, too.
Sally: What if they don't want to have sex with you?
Harry: Doesn't matter, because the sex thing is already out there so the friendship is ultimately doomed and that is the end of the story.
Sally: Well I guess we're not going to be friends then.
Harry: Guess not.

yes, a few actually. I tend to get along much better with guys, but ive been in a committed relationship for 8 years. I guess if I were single it could be different, but I don't know, it would be like kissing a cousin i think. eck.

I have one with a girl that everyone thinks I'm having an affair with. She's more like a sister to me. It just so happens that she's not my type of girl anyway. I actually spent some quality time at her flat once where she got tipsy on wine and finally fell asleep with her head on my lap. I gently slipped myself out, found a blanket for her and left. I think she respected me more for not taking advantage of her in that state...at least I hope so.

Of course! Boys and girls are best friends all the time. Just think of the person as a friend, or a good friend, and only that. You'll be surprised when you have a lot of friends of the opposite sex and not have feelings for them.

I have more male friends than female friends and yes they are all platonic. Two of my friends are gay and great to go shopping with. None of my friends or I have entered into any other relationship other than friends most of them are married and so am I.

One of my best friends is a female. She has an S.O. and is not interested in men anyway. I usually have lots of female friends and that's all we are. Why let something as common and coarse as sex ruin a good relationship. We are humans after all, we are supposed to be able to control our impulses. And that's not that hard to do.

Yes. Friends are friends, lovers are lovers the boundary between the two should not be crossed. You can however be friends with a lover but not the other way round.

I bet it's very possible. But you would need to find two very mature, intelligent people for such a thing to happen, and it would take a lot of effort.
