Well when u plus it in open itunes and then on the left menu under devices click your ipod and then it will show u how much memory is taken and some other stuff then there should be a check box that says open itunes when this ipod is connected

connect your ipod,start itunes... i use itunes 7. click on the ipod on the left side and see the tabs across the top. click the summary tab and you'll see a couple of checkboxes to manually manage music,enable disk use and at the top a checkbox for 'open itunes when this ipod is connected' check the box. close itunes,restart itunes. problem solved...

open up itunes, make sure you have the box checked for itunes to automatically open when you plug in your ipod. At least I have that option.

Download itunes If it doesn't pop up when you plug it in just open the program...If nothing try and re download the software and restart your computer...............

Make sure you are on iTunes, if not then your computer is not recognizing the iPod and I am not 100% sure what to do.

Disconnect and then reconnect it. if it continues then you may need to visit: www.apple.com/help or something similar to that. I had the same problem and it gradually got worse to the point where i couldn't turn it on and had to restore it.
