I don't think they are necessarily messed up in the head just different than other people,they have more emotion and let it show.
When someone is a great artist is because they are refreshing, not following the pack and they have new innovative ideas and designs.
On your gallery try seeing the images you have as something new, never seen before, move them rearrage them, make sure they are the center of attention, this doesnt mean they have to be the center of the picture, create a background that is helping your subject not taking away from it.

No, it just seems that way. Take Georgia O'Keefe. She didn't have any serious problems. Having mental problems can help open up the barriers society (and what it considers to be taboo) can impose and expose another view. I looked at your pictures, and I suggest adjusting the amount of light. The way it looks right now with the light harshly hitting the subject (and fading the color, something you might not want) is amateurish.

not necessarily look at warhol he took commercial graphics and helped to found POP-ART an overhead projector and some negatives and a color wash or his piss paintings blobs of primary colors pissed at and on by famous folkes ,, he acted wierd by was really savvy about commercialism
