Why do speeches contain anaphoras? I know what they are and how to make one, but I'm wondering why its so effective. Is it beacuse it drills a concept into the head?

Sounds good to me! One of my college professors maintained that it takes at least 70 exposures to a new word or concept for it to become integrated into a person's knowledge base. Another teacher, took it further: 70 times and 70 ways. Personally, I often find anaphoras appealing for adding parallel structure, repetition, and rhythm to the speech. When working with students learning to write, this technique helps them to keep on topic and build gradually increasing arguments to a climax. It can work well in poetry also. It is an ancient rhetorical device, used by both Greeks and Romans ( and maybe before them?). Of course, like any device it can be overused. Good question!
