Because a pig is unable to sweat so if it gets too hot it will role around in mud or even it's own feces in order to cool off. If it is a pet pig and kept in a cool environment it won't have the need to do such things.

When most people hear the word "pig" they think,
mud puddle.. big fat pink pigs with curly tails.. pigs eating moldy bread and sour milk.. but that's just because people were taught to think that way. In reality, pigs are one of the cleanest animals on the planet, the only reason they roll around in mud is because it helps rid them of flies and irratating insects.. and it's a good sunscreen for their skin. They also find a lot of their food in the mud, motice the way their noses are shaped, kind of like a shovel isn't it? Well they use their shovel noses to dig through the mud to find food, [pretty smart animals huh?] after the dolphin, orangutan, and chimp, the pig is the smartest animal in the world. When I was younger, I had 2 pot-bellied pigs names Lily and Luna, we had them until I was about 15 and then Luna died, Lily was really depressed, and despite all of our efforts [we even got her a little brother (Ducky) to romp around with] even 4 months later, she was still suffering without her sister, and the vet told us it would be best to put her down.

Pigs are cool. Ive had pigs since Iwas a kid and raised them from babies to show in the 4-H and won many Grand Champions. Actually they are one of the cleanest pets you could have. Since they have no sweat glands and a very thin skin is why they require mud to keep them cool in the hot weather.

Cause they do!!
..they are not all pristine they are animals in the first degree.
I can attest to this since my daughter raised 3 pigs for FFA and one lamb over a period of 4 years, attending 2 county fairs each year. p.s. These animals were kept in pens of cement they still rolled in their own manure and you can't clean the pen every darn time they poo.. they have no sweat glands its the way they keep cool. geesch!

Probably because most people are city people and have never worked on a farm or ranch. City people have no idea what goes on on a farm. Their milk and meat come from a store. Their grains come in the form of breads or cereals. If they ever had to work on a farm or study what a farmer does every day of his/her life, they wouldn't have to make assumptions that pigs are smelly and dirty. All they see on TV is pigs rooting around in the mud and they don't realize that afterwards they clean themselves and are actually pretty clean animals all around and alot smarter than dogs too.

They aren't really. Mud is to keep the bugs off them and help to cool their bodies.

In fact, pigs are very intelligent and friendly animals that make far cleaner pets than most dogs or cats. They are easier to train too.

Because the conditions pigs tend to be kept in make them filthy and smell. Most farms keep pigs in filth and manure, even though pigs are clean animals that prefer to be kept in clean hay.

i haven't ever theory it became a grimy animal. each and every little thing of the pig is eatable and each little thing tastes distinctive to the different components; possibly it truly is area of the project- you could no longer substitute a extra fee-effective decrease of steak and fee for the main suitable decrease, the tastebuds might comprehend in the present day. they are additionally smart adequate to be waiting to discover cakes without being experienced which proves that truly they have very costly tastes.
