I had dry skin in a few areas on my face, and I saw Tyra Banks talking about using Vaseline on dry patches on her face. So I tried it by put a very thin layer on the dry areas after I washed my face and before I went to sleep. It seemed to work well. If you have trouble with acne, however, I heard Vaseline can clog your pores.

Also, if you have really bad dry, red, flaking skin, it could actually be eczema. If that's the case, you will probably want to see a dermatologist. If you think it's eczema and don't want to see a dermatologist, you can use 1% hydrocortisone cream (you can buy it over the counter) and it will clear it up.

Apply 2 tablespoon raw milk on the face and neck or where ever it is dry and leave it to dry. Wash off with cold water. This helps to get soft skin. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and use a face pack of ripe bananas and honey. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for dry skin at the link below.

Most people with this problem can use a moisturizer containing oatmeal or shea butter. It should be a cream and not a lotion. Also, apply right after your shower or after washing your face (when it is still damp- this is the best time to absorb the cream). When taking showers, don't take hot ones and watch what type of cleanser you are using- it should be a creamy one so as to not strip your oils.
Lastly, drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
PS: You may consider seeing a dermatologist or having a facial done to start fresh. A dermatologist has great products and can make a "prescription" for you based on all of your needs (sometimes we mis-diagnose our problems, a really need something else).
Good luck to you!!

I have had many problems with having dry skin on my face. I have tried everything... I used to scrub it all off with a loofa and then put any lotion on it. Now I use Neutogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion spf 15. It is amazing! I haven't had a problem since I switched. It has vitamins in it too. It is a little expensive, but definately worth it if you have this problem alot! Try it out!

I have really dry skin too because of the cold weather, I use Dove Sensitive Skin facial lotion. It helps a lot, trust me, it sells around 3 or 4 dollars.

Cetaphil moisturizer and the facial cleanser. Wal-mart has the generic version at alot less. The dermatologist recommended it for my daughters skin and now the whole family uses nothing else. It is an awesome product!!

oooohhh!!! I just started using hydrocortonsone(missed spelled) lotion it works good you can get a prescrition from your doctor, it works really good but it does have a slight smell that is not so pleasant, but once on the skin you won't even notice the smell.

I use Dove Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15. You can find it at Wal-Mart with the other facial products. Use it every time you wash your face and before you put on liquid foundation.

It works like a charm!

This sounds crazy, but rub a light coat of Vaseline on your face before bedtime. It's messy, but works great!

I've used it for years and it softens the lines and keeps the moisture in.
