Knowing yourself as you do and the people around you, are they more likely to benefit others with thier abilities or themselves, or would they do nothing at all, content to leave others to their fate, and not be involved in anything?

well how many people do we have in jails ? how many people are there that are not in jail but should be ? now how many people are there that are good Samaritans and help out their neighbors? now how many people do you know who just don't give a care about any one but them?? i think if powers where real the numbers and percentages would be the same. the crimes and good deeds would just be different.

People that have superpowers as you put it, would do a number of things. They would as you say, keep it to themselves, knowing that all power can be corrupted therefore ....choosing to stand idle. Then there are those that realize their powers and certainly would chose to use it for the betterment of those around them, but in the long run I think that they would become very interested in fame and fortune.

Then as is the case with all who seem to have powers, they usually have the best intentions at first, but because of mis-understanding of people they might chose to go another way, to use the power for their own means, to try and use their power to control what they believe to be wrong in the world, even becoming quiet evil in their ways, knowing that they had these powers. As sad as it seems I think human nature would draw even the best of the best off course and into the abbess of horror for humanity.

But....then there would be that one super person, superpower that would control and defeat that which was evil.!

i could be someplace in between. i does no longer leap suitable into the action on each and every occasion somebody mandatory help, yet i could help somebody in the event that they actually deserved it. i could probably be enormously mischievous and play pranks on human beings. And a splash revenge on some enemies does no longer harm. >:) a million.) shape shift. Into something. That way if i had to fly, BAM i'm an eagle. and then i could grow to be a cat and leap from somewhat extreme places. such quite some opportunities. 2.) Invisibility. that is an obtrusive determination that maximum folk could elect yet you should use it for such quite some reasons. 3.)Telekinesis. the style which may even pass human beings so i'd desire to destroy a undeniable somebody right into a wall without touching them. :)

I'd like to be optimistic and say heroes but given the fundamentals of human nature as it is, then those superpowers would be abused (eventually) as vanity and the self start to kick in. Sad but very probably true.

I think there would be an equal # of both. If these powers were real, who would have them? Most people would probably leave others to their own fates and us these powers to benefit themselves. I know there would be a few "heros" who would fight the wars and plagues and natural disasters, but most supers would want to better their own lives, even at the cost of others.
I know... a very pessimistic outlook... but you asked for our opinions.

i think that hipothetically speaking if we all had superpowers i think we would take revenge on those who have does up wrong in our eyes... i belive that everyone is good but the ones who werent cared for and nurtured suffer people suffer for no reason what-so-ever... people shouldnt suffer but we do... i am athiest and i dont believe that god has a plan... we make our owns paths... but the peopel around us sometimes steer them in direstions we dont neccssarly should go in... but we make choices influenced or not... sometimes we have to get over the hurdle before realizing what we have done wrong and correcting it.... life is nothing but twists and turns there is no shortcut........ so same with super powers we would use them as we would take paths...

Just look at the world today and you would say more villains. Real heroes are often unseen, rarely recognized, the single mothers and people who make sacrifices not for glory but for love. More "power" would only fuel the desire for infinite power, the desire to be God.

One person's "hero" is another person's "villian"

The words have no meaning in this context.

Like Bonnie and Clyde, villians to some, heroes to others. Or superman battling the Nazis - Hero to Allied forces, Villian to the Nazis.

I think if super powers really exisisted, it would be even as there always has to be bad to balance out the good, I know everyone in my faimily would put every one else first, but that's just my faimily.

No. But I do think there would be some REALLY weird laws to keep the supervillains from taking over.
