Pharmacists are the most often seen health professional. They are in a good spot to point out early warning signs to patients. Pharmacists are suppose to counsel patients on their medications. Also, check if the drug was prescribed properly by the prescriber, and if it wasn't, get it changed. Pharmacists are the last link in the chain before patients receive their medications.

We depend on them as our second line of defense for prescription drugs. They are the ones that make sure the drug is right for the condition (double checking the awful hand writing that could be misread). We depend on our regular pharmacist to keep track of all the meds we are taking so we can avoid conflict among them (which could have fatal consequences). We depend on them to insure that their medications are authentic and have not been tampered with (which is becoming a big problem with counterfeit drugs). We depend on them to instruct us on the proper use of the drugs and warn us of any potential side effects.
