Nowadays, is it more common and easier to "e-mail" in sick than to call?

Call in, do not expect someone to read in an e-mail that you will not be at work.

Funny you should ask.. I just did two weeks ago. Severe hip and low back problems. Degenerative bone loss in my back...spinal surgery years ago.. Prior to this I seldom called in unless I was sick.. Like the Rollin' Stones sang,"What a drag it is getting old!"
I forgot to add... I called in via a phone line, but also called the office too. Hope that helps!

i don't think emailing in sick is acting in a professional manner. i have done both called in sick and another time have also emailed. I rather call so at least i iknow that i have talked to someone an email can just be skipped.

Always call. E-mailing in sick is sooooo inappropriate and disrespectful. It shows you do not really care about your job. Calling or in person is always better.

You should call in and speak to your boss dont try to hide it. E-mailing is not a very good idea.

it is probably easier to e-mail but still more appropriate to call.

you should call. you never know when your boss will check his/her email, and he/she may already be pissed at you for being late or not showing up before they get your email. you want to make sure that they know as soon as possible that you won't be there.

It's best to check your employee handbook.
