so i'm at uni in my first year and we've been looking for houses. they found one when i went home for the weekend and liked it and all chose "their" rooms - even the girl who also was at home!! i therefore got left with the small room but went to see the house with an open mind. "my" room is so ridiculously small i said we shouldn't live there and should find something else. i found another house which sounds perfect but they are all signing for this other house without even looking at the house i found first. i really do not know what to think/ do as i have no one else to live with.

A number of factors to consider would be:

If you refuse to sign on, will they be able to make the payments without you or will that be a deal breaker?

Could you get into a residence hall if they so sign a contract on the first house?

Do you have other friends or acquaintences that might be willing to go in with you on the 2nd house?

If none of the above are an option, as your room is signifcantly smaller than the others, then you should have to pay less in rent (maybe pro-rated based on the sq.ft. per room).

Do have to agree with the above posters in that if your friends are so inconsiderate as to try to force you into the smaller room, wonder how often they take advantage of you in other areas...might be a good opportunity to break away from them.

If you are the only one not happy with her room it was a bit optimistic of you to expect anyone else not to want to live in the first house. You need to decide whether you can manage in the small room and whether it is worth compromising on the size of your room in order to live with people with whom you get on. I assume there are no halls of residence or rooms in them left available. Are you sure you have no other options or are you assuming?

Tell your friends so LISTEN FOR GOD SAKES! That is really rude I mean everyone that lives in that house should be satisfied!

they are not real friends. If you don't want a room so small don't move in with them.
