Depends on the worm. Earthworms eat dirt. Their bodies remove the organic matter from the soil, and pass the sand out the other end.

Some worm species eat apples, corn, or other plants. Some species eat rotten meat

Most of the worms I know eat Italian food. Pasta is a favorite among most earth crawlers, provided the dish is served with a fine gorganzola sauce. We forget that worms immigrated here from Italy. Shame on us! So do what I do. Throw a meatball in the yard and save a worm.

well in a worm farm they are kept in manure/soil mix and they feed them by placing bread on the top i think they eat all the above

Anything organic (once living). They don't like acidic foods, though, like lemon, orange, tomato or Howard Stern
