I have thought about this too. I have even thought about setting up a camera to find out. Probably some toy chewing. Some butt licking. Perhaps some barking at squirrels in the yard. Probably lots of sleeping.
But sometimes i think they break into my liquor and get really drunk.

My cat and dog tip over the garbage and drag it all over the house. Then, they lay on the couch until about ten minutes when I usually come home. They both wait by the door when they hear my keys jingle outside the door.

I have 2 cats. I know what they do when I am gone cos they do the same thing when I am asleep. They hunt for food, open the cupboards, steal the treats and shred the garbage and toilet paper. Needless to say, I dont get much sleep!

Can't be sure every time, but on one occasion, my female sheltie/husky mix who normally chases and barks at and generally terrorizes my rambunctious cat, who in turn teases and instigates, surprised both my husband and myself when we came home one day after a really severe thunderstorm to find both of them huddled in the closet together! It was so cute! But very unusual for them. lol

I know what happens....when I get home it is like toddlers have torn the house up....(cats)...they love to get behind the window and look out; if I forget to lift the blinds, when I come home...it is destroyed....I lost count how many I have bought.

My dog sleeps all day. How I know this is because when we have come home from somewhere I will often find him in his favorite places to sleep.
