There have been quite a few "crash landers". The first being the soviet made "Luna 2" which crashed into the moon in 1959.

Crashing into the moon was a fairly common mission actually. The NASA "Ranger" missions were all kamikazes that crashed into the moon. In the 60's and 70's Saturn rockets were crashed into the moon in order to get seismic data.

The Soviet built Verena 3 probe made a crash landing on Venus in 1966, and was the first man made object to reach the surface of another planet. Verena 4, 5, and 6 all also crash landed on Venus, although they were not supposed to. None of these crafts were built to withstand the massive pressure from Venus's atmosphere and they were crushed before reaching the surface.

I believe that a probe was crash landed into Saturn at one point, but I can't seem to find anything about it - so I don't know what it's called.

More recently, as the Galileo probe nears the end of its lifespan, NASA is planning to crash the spacecraft into Jupiter.

That's all I know of... hope it helps.

To the guy that answered first -- if you don't think she deserved an answer then why did you bother saying anything? Does it make you feel superior to tell people they aren't doing enough research? In my opinion Y!A is a form of research, and there is nothing wrong with doing this as opposed to grasping in the dark trying to research herself. There is nothing wrong with asking for help.

I don't think anyone will understand your question. What are "crash landers".

Also, if you mean moon missions or Mars landers, very few people would know all the facts without looking them up, so why can't you do that? Do you just want soemone to do your homework for you?

anybody can find anything in www.wikipedia.com.

Don't be lazy, or if you intend to get away wiith it, ask a question that anyone can understand.
