The tape of "Black Dahlia" is one I keep playing over and over.
I cant make up my mind whether it's meaningful or trashy, or both. I noticed there's a comment made by the detective, "...best thing since the atomic bomb." Which did not take place until later historically. The pseudo-noir atmosphere comes and goes, as if they cant get it straight, or they are deliberately parodying. The solution to the hideous crime is so startling, I wonder if this is the TRUE explanation of this historical atrocity (in which a woman's nude body is sliced in half at the navel, with organs removed and blood completely missing. The whole thing is both repulsive and tantalizing, especially the connection with Laughing Man literature and New Age art of the 20's.

The only movie I watched this year at the theater, was Night at the Museum. It was okay, my kids liked it.
