large variations in height among siblings are not unheard of...just like if two brown-eyed parents had 3 kids with brown eyes and one with blue...it's all in genetics!

It is definitely possible. Just because the parents and siblings are shorties, that doesn't mean that he has to be. I guess he had a really big growth spurt. There are height variances in families all the time. There are a bunch of short people and then this one tall guy in the midst of it. I know that in my family, most of the people are short(like me) but there are a select few that bump their head on the ceiling when they walk in. It just happens. The height doesn't always follow genetics. Plus, the brother and sister may not be done growing, but I don't know their ages...

Well, his mother and his father may both carry alleles, or genes, for a tall height. It may have just skipped his brother, and girls usually don't get all that tall, all though some do.
Edit to Mr. Zwink- I am well nurtured myself. I'm only 5'5" and 15 years old. Sometimes being well nurtured will not make you grow. It all usually depends on your genes. Both my mom and dad and grandparents aren't all that tall (although my dad's 5'11).

genetics...
take into account that the majority of inherited factors tend to jump a generation...
this means that if one of his grandfathers or grandmothers were tall he can be as well without his father or mother being tall
also it is of high importance what kind of exersize he had in the ages between 7-17
example: if one played basketball and one played hockey... the one that played basketball would be taller ... the one that played hockey broader ;)

well first of all he could have gotten the genetic properties of being tall from his either grandmothers, or gransfathers. their mothers and fathers or even their mothers and fathers.
secondly it could be nurture induced, eatlnig a lot of meats and sugars will make you grow better. it could aso be mutation.
