Why do they continue to air that stuff? I mean the only persons benefiting are those judges ego's. If people want to watch this stuff most small court cases are open to public, why on t.v. Shouldn't the courts be more sacred than this garbage?

Peace,

Yes. I've seen her a couple of times and she's disgusting. A good judge treats everyone with respect and is not a manic egomaniac like Judge Judy.

Most Americans don't go to court and watch the cases unless they are involved. I think the point of airing it on TV is to educate the average American to the legal system. And if you want to learn more you can watch Court TV and follow the cases. I personally have a passion for the law and enjoy watching it executed on TV. The cases are real and the participants know they are going to be on TV(possibly) and the people involved want their 15 minutes of fame good or bad. When was the last time you were in court to sit and listen and learn about the American Justice system? There is a reason for law and order in this country and those of us who are educated and understand the Constitution appreciate it.

They certainly don't give the court system a good name, that's for sure.

Unfortunately they continue to air them because people like watching them, just like the tabloid shows and newspapers, and car accidents.

Also, people are willing to put up with the public humiliation because the winners guarantee that their judgment gets paid. You can win a judgement in court and chase someone for it for the rest of your life.

And I must confess to a secret admiration for Judge Judy- she doesn't take any nonsense!

I haven't watched Judge Judy in a long time. But I used to. I think she is fantastic!!! She is no-nonense, to the point and a great judge of character. I hated her in the beginning - too abrupt, etc., etc., But she kinda grows on you. I certainly would want to have my facts straight
if I were facing her in court!!! There are far too many of these kinds of programs on TV. When it becomes saturated like that, it loses its credibility.

They keep airing it because some idiots keep watching it. I don't think the courts are "sacred," however; they're a functioning part of the government just like the other two branches. As for the screwballs who watch the junk - maybe we can get somebody to order that they be sterilized so they don't reproduce?????

I watch Judge Judy a lot as a constant reminder how NOT to treat people. In the real world, judges are never as rude, crude, crass and ill-bred as Judge Judy. . .

Personally , I love her! Just takes no crap, listens to no excuses, makes people behave in court, teaches them how to take responsibility for their own actions. I'll bet she was a champ when she was on the bench.

And - in my opinion, most of what is on TV is garbage, "reality" this, "who wants to be" that, American Idol, stupid comedies, MTV - so in the great scheme of things the Judge Judy show is good.

Peace back atcha

I love to watch her {when I can} She kills me with all the stuff that comes out of mouth. Most of the tome she is bang on, I do agree that she could be a little less aggressive, but it is entertainment. For the ones who do not like this type of show there is this wonderful invention it is called "THE REMOTE" change the channel. It kills me to see and hear people saying that they don't like so and so and this show and that show yet they keep watching. If there is something I don't like to watch on TV. I don't I am sure that I can find something else.

Well, first and foremost Judge Judy isn't a Judge (at least not on her show). She is an Arbitrator. What she does actually thumbs its nose at the Arbitration system here in the USA - and that system absolutely SUCKS. So, really, it doesn't reflect badly on courts at all. It does however, and rightly so, reflect badly on arbitration.
