I nneedd some ideas on why Footballs are elliptical! Help me plz! Its for a project

The elliptical shape provides both, better aerodynamics to cut through wind and a more efficient spiral effect for passing, and it also allows the kicker to create lift to propel the ball forwards.

Footballs became more elliptical after the forward pass became a more commonly used tactic. It made the football more aerodynamic so that it could be thrown farther.

Just one slight addition (since this is in math), the gyroscopic effect of spinning the ball around its long axis keeps it pointed forward when it's thrown. Same reason a rifled barrel puts spin on a bullet. If you'd throw a football without putting spin on it, it would tumble. It wouldn't go as far and it would be harder to catch.

i think dat only some countries use ellitiptical football and soccor mainly uses round football........anyway it's because it travels in a perfect projectile motion through air due to tapering ends
