My sister's name is Roberta Sue and I have never called her anything but SUE! My daughters' name is Keri Sue and for some reason (maybe because we all ready have a Sue in the family) we all call her Keri. Sue is still alive in America!

Haha yes, it is a name, usually a nickname for Susan or Suzanne (or Susana, etc.)

It seems as though the name has been losing popularity as the verb has been gaining popuarity. I'm sure that's just a coincidence, though.

We use it. Sueanne, Susin are a couple that Sue is short for. I'm sure plenty of peoples name on their birth certificate is Sue also.
