To lynch, or lynching is basically when a group of people (called a "mob") gather together to take law into their own hands and hung a person.

With African Americans the crime could be just the fact that they were black. Horrible, horrible times back in the 60's.

Throw a rope over a branch, tie it on, make a noose, put someones head in it, remove the crate from underneath their feet and hang them to death.
