USCG does not require a license for a boat used only for recreation. There are some really large "recreational boats." Is there a length the USCG requires a license for?

USCG only requires a license if the boat is commercial, ie carrying passengers or freight for hire........now, some states are getting into the act and asking for licenses, boating safety courses, etc...call your local Coast Guard Auxiliary or US Power Squadron....they'll know

Most states now require a boating safety course for anyone born after 1972,to operate any vessel with a motor.
The Coast Guard will ask for this certification if you are stopped for any reason.

If I see the front i think of that is somebody from right here (Michigan) with a California plate in front for adornment (very trouble-free for some reason) considering we don't have front plates. whether that could be a sturdy California motor vehicle i think of wow what a lengthypersistent
