Personally I strongly disagree, and guess what, I'm just 18, born way after Beatlemania and 60's. They are still the greatest and best band in the World (supported by evidence, such as achievements and records, but some people think they are overrated). I am disgusted about the fact that people in our generation tend to listen to bull s*** Hip Hop and "R N' B" (which is totally not Rhythm and BLUES - if so, where are the Blues?). Tell me what you think...
PS New songs (I don't regard Hip Hop as music) released nowadays are 85% bull s***, and that's why I still prefer The Beatles than any other s*** "musicians" (look at the charts, you will find loads if you agree with me)

I agree with you that the Beatles were great. And I agree with those who state that the Beatles were the greatest and most influential rock band/pop act in history. Absolutely EVERYTHING people listen to now comes from their music in some way. And it's completely moronic to say you like rock music but don't like the Beatles (our generation), because they embody rock and roll.

Our generation will listen to whatever overweight, greedy, idiot-record company CEOs sell to them. It's up to the artist how highly they regard their own art. No modern music seems real. It's like the artists are about money just as much as their business counterparts. But like everything in America now, art is just a franchised business. Some indie acts are emulating, or simply copying, the '60s sound but it all comes across as insincere. Don't listen to those who praise indie rock... it's just another phase of garbage rock and roll and psuedo-artists.

Idiots in our generation think of the Beatles as "wimpy" music and garbage like korn and pantera as "good" simply because it is aggressive and allows them to wallow in their immaturity for a while longer. But the idiots who call the Beatles "wimpy" are usually the same people to dislike rap because it's "black music". These ignorant people haven't realized that all American music, except for country/western and some classical, was all created by black people. Rap was the latest revolution in music, and it helped to spread the word about what's going on in the black community and in inner city ghettos across the US. Of course now that the mass media took over every soccer mom knows Ice Cube, Hip Hop is in McDonalds commercials, new artists glorify oppression with no insight/criticism, and problems in the black community remain. The media's very good at exploiting controversial facets of society for $$$$.

I think the Beatles are amazing they really set the standard for modern music and with out them they would not be half the bands they are today they are legends in there own right and should be respected.

But may I also say I am a big hip hop fan and I think if you actually bothered to listen to the songs and read the lyrics you would have to give some respect to that genre of music too.

Great music is timeless! That's why people still listen to Mozart and Bach and people still love the Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky. The fact that the Beatle's get new fans all the time is proof that their words and music go beyond their generation. Disco, for example, was pretty much for one era and then it was over.

I don't care how "old" they are, Beatles music is as good and as refreshing as it was back in the '60s. The classics "Hey Jude", "Let It Be", "Help!", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Tomorrow Never Knows", and many others are being held in high regards.

However, I don't think it is right to bash all of the current music. The last thing to do is make people feel uncomfortable, when you criticize something they heavily enjoy.

At last, someone who is just 18 but can tell the difference between real music, and the sound of an ash bin lid being dropped.
The beatles actualy wrote their own songs, no cover versions there. They played their own instruments, and experimented with new sounds, not relying on computerised sampled rubish
Some people are just like sheep, someone tells them it sounds good and they just beleive it, and spread the word....

I'm 60, and still think the Beatles (particularly the McCartney tunes) are mostly bubble-gum pop. Lennon was good, but the other three - particularly Ringo and George - cummon???
Mull of Kintyre & the Frog Chorus ??
In the 60s the young girls and middle of the roaders loved the Beatles. The rest of us loved the Stones, Who and other live bands.
