For a start you can use Window Explorer.

If you know what you're looking for:
Click "start", then "search", select "all files and folders", then type in whatever you're looking for and click "search"...

Or if you want to generally see everything on the hard drive:
Click "start", then "my computer", then click "local disc (c)" and you'll see all the folders contained on your hard drive. Specifically choose the "program files" folder if you're curious as to the various programs and software on your computer.
