I'm a first year at Trinity. I'm studying to be a surgeon one day. I'm very focused since I know what I want. I never settle for less of an A, even A- is not good enough for me. So I try to do my best at everything. This all sounds great, but then I isolate myself. I force myself to be so focused that I feel like I'm driving my friends away. Haha, the fact is I don't even have that many friends at all, and I'm isolating myself from the only friends that I have. I have a great family, and my best friends and my boyfriend are all back home. I think I need to stress that because I'm not a complete anti-social freak. I guess I'm just so ambitious and determined that I don't want anything to get in my way. Am I doing the right thing? Whenever I hang out with my friends at school, I feel like I'm taking out time that I could used for studying. I love studying, to be honest. I'm passionate about learning things. Learning makes me feel alive. But is this imbalance good?

You sound JUST LIKE ME. =] I went to a new school, and i tuned alot of people out...and studied on my lesson at school. I completely understand your standards because I don't allow myself to have less than a 95 or an A.

I think that maybe you are taking it a little too far with the studying things, and I understand that you want to be a good surgeon and studying makes you happy. It sometimes for me too. But ... I know, Somepeople might call you a 'geek' if you know what I mean. Some people call me a 'geek' and I say... that's right.. I'm a very smart person..

But I think that this imbalance.. is... not good. I think you should find hours to study, and hours to hang out with your friends. I think that you and your friends should plan something every Friday or Saturday night, so that you can have a little balance in your social life.

I like to see another young person focused on their education like me. Good Job & graduate with flying colors. =]
