Marie Antoinette would be a good choice. It is interesting to see how lies somehow become truth. What we know about her and what really happened are 2 different stories. Another very interesting story is Henry the 8th and his wives. A wonderful way would be to write some about each wife then some on Henry. Or Henry's daughter Mary "Blood Mary" and the Catholic Protestants war. Her life in Anne Boleyn's shadow the woman Henry divorced her mother for. You have many wonderful choices to choose from. History is neither dead or boring.

You can write about Henry the Eighth king of England who was married six times and had two of his wives executed. You can write about the Spanish Inquisition.
