Iraq war was planned before 911, it wasn't a reaction to 911

Bush/Cheney used the fear from 911 to persuade us to go along with the Iraq war that they planned anyway

Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Iraq is a reason for Bush to try and finish what daddy didn't get too. The WMD excuses have no basis. The US knew they had WMD's. They sold them to Iraq in the first place back in the 70's and knew that Saddam had used them in the 80's. The US was responsible for Saddam being in power there to begin with, just like Castro in Cuba.

the two are not closely related. It was an overraction to the whole WMD thing and was a big committment in cost, lives etc. though.

There are reports that Iraq was too be one of many in the middle-east and supposedly the EASY war. In getting approval for war, Bush had been looking for broader war powers (read all of the middle east was on the table) but congress limited it to Iraq.

And, Iran at the time was also looking to normalize relations to some extent. In their bravado, the Bush administration told them to pi**-off.

9/11 somewhat forced our hand in taking some action in Afghanistan and going after Al Qaeda.

Am I the only who remembers things as little as five and a half years ago? Okay let's review...........

1. 911 attacks on September 11, 2001.
2. US sends special forces to Afghanistan in October 2001.
3. US sends troops to Iraq in March 2003.

If the war in Iraq was a response to the 911 attacks, then how come we sent troops to Afghanistan first?

And if Iraq was in response to the 911 attacks, then why then did we wait nearly a year and half later to send in our troops?

As you liberals so often like to point out.....IRAQ HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 911!

Bush and Cheney blamed the 9/11 on Saddam all along they knew what happened. They don't even want Ben Laden they just wanted to ruin the people of Iraq lives, send our troops to be slaughtered coming home in caskets by the plane loads. Troops maimed beyond recognition. I can't for the life of me see how anyone can say . "We're wining the war," the war is not being won and by the way where do they get that WE stuff, We is sitting at home mouthing off, WE need to go suit up, grab a rifle, catch the next plane out and then you can say, WE died for our President. We needs to hurry up because, We might miss our flight out Hurry ,WE need to go to war that is what, WE need to do.just that, WE are still not moving Get to Moving.

Iraq invasion has not much to do with Sept 11. it is because of oil. One of the reason read by Mr. Rumsfeld to invade was: "to secure Iraq natural resources". They lied when they said that there were mass destruction weapons or Hussein related to the group that launched 9/11 horror.

Whether or not it is an over or under reaction is subject to opinion

In my opinion - We didnt NEED to go to Iraq.. We went.. and Now we need to fix the mess we made.
