Unfortunately, this doesn't sound like a good situation. Very dangerous. Be extremely careful and skeptical. Unless your 'lover' loves you extremely much and is highly loyal, principled, and resistant to sexual advances (don't ask yourself, ask your friends - I bet he isn't), then chances are high that something has already happened, or will happen.

Before you were in the picture, who broke up with who? The only way nothing is going to happen is if they hate each other, and if they did, they wouldn't agree to continue being roommates. Or unless they're extremely mature, civilized adults, which is very rare. You'll have to use your 6th sense.

The more I think about it, the worse this sounds.

Personally, if you're having serious doubts, I'd express how uncomfortable I felt about the situation, and say that you can't accept it, but that you're not going to force him to choose. If he really loves you, then he'll move out (or ask the roommate to).

In my personal opinion I would not be comfortable with it. BUT the two of you could only gain trust from this. It'll show him that you trust his judgment. I used to roommate with an ex and we just found that we were better of friends and never really had any feelings for each other after we broke it off so I wouldn't worry about it.

There are so many variables in this situation. Are there economic factors? Are there leftover emotional factors?

The best you can do is trust your bf to do the right thing. It wouldn't hurt to mention calmly that his living situation makes you uncomfortable (but don't create a fight if one isn't warranted).

i would seriously question of this is really an ex partner and not a current partner.. the arrangement would send alarm bells off to me, but you never know, could be they stayed friends.. or could be they couldn't afford for one to move out yet.

oh I smell drama here. Well that was in the past. But if it is happening now, my advice for you is to dump him, because it is not worth it. Your feelings will be hurt and will have a hard time trusting them. Use your instincts.

I lived with my ex for six or seven months after we broke up. I never slept with him after starting to date again. I guess it depends on how well you know and trust him.

It could be platonic, but I wouldn't be comfortable with it, personally.
