A procedure you thankfully won't remember once it is over, as they give you a drug that helps you forget the experience...

A camera is inserted in your anus and up your colon to check for polyps, any found are immediately taken out and biopsied. Keep you from dying of colon cancer.

lWorst part is the fleet treatment before...to clean you out.

Colonoscopy is the minimally invasive endoscopic examination of the large colon and the distal part of the small bowel with a CCD camera or a fiber optic camera on a flexible tube passed through the anus. It may provide a visual diagnosis (e.g. ulceration, polyps) and grants the opportunity for biopsy or removal of suspected lesions. Virtual colonoscopy, which uses 2D and 3D imagery reconstructed from computed tomography (CT) scans or from nuclear magnetic resonance (MR) scans, is also possible, as a totally non-invasive medical test, although it is not standard and still under investigation regarding its diagnostic abilities. Furthermore, virtual colonoscopy does not allow for therapeutic maneuvers such as polyp/tumor removal or biopsy nor visualization of lesions smaller than 5 millimeters. If a growth or polyp is detected using CT colonography, a standard colonoscopy would still need to be performed. Colonoscopy can remove polyps smaller than one millimeter. Once polyps are removed, they can be studied with the aid of a microscope to determine if they are precancerous or not. Colonoscopy is similar but not the same as sigmoidoscopy. The difference between colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy is related to which parts of the colon each can examine. Sigmoidoscopy allows doctors to view only the final two feet of the colon, while colonoscopy allows an examination of the entire colon, which measures four to five feet in length.

I believe you meant Colonoscopy.
A colonoscopy (koh-luh-NAH-skuh-pee) allows a doctor to look inside the entire large intestine. The procedure enables the physician to see things such as inflamed tissue, abnormal growths, and ulcers. It is most often used to look for early signs of cancer in the colon and rectum. It is also used to look for causes of unexplained changes in bowel habits and to evaluate symptoms like abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, and weight loss.

For the colonoscopy, you will lie on your left side on the examining table. You will be given pain medication and a moderate sedative to keep you comfortable and help you relax during the exam.

The doctor will then insert a long, flexible, lighted tube into your rectum and slowly guide it into your colon. The tube is called a colonoscope (koh-LON-oh-skope). The scope transmits an image of the inside of the colon onto a video screen so the doctor can carefully examine the lining of the colon. The scope bends so the doctor can move it around the curves of your colon.

Colonoscopy is a medical procedure. A long flexible fiber-optic scope is inserted into the anus and slowly moved up the colon to inspect for early signs of polyps and cancer.
The bowel must be cleaned by laxatives first. It is important to do in people over 50, since colon cancer is largely preventable.

I'm a nurse. It's a simple test to view your intestines to see if there is any abnormal cells present. The test can be a bit uncomfortable and you will be awake during the exam. It is kind of neat you are even able to look at your colon while the doctor is, if you like. Don't worry you will be OK.

A colonoscopy is a procedure to check you for colon cancer and other disorders in that area. They have to put a little camera on a "snake" (flexible stick thingy) up your bum so they can see what's going on up there.
