Oddly enough, the Lions are actually pretty thin at WR. They've got Roy Williams and not much else. Mike Williams can't keep the cheeseburgers out of his mouth, Charles Rogers didn't want to put down the bong (or learn the playbook), so they're both out and the #2 guy (Furrey) is a converted safety.
That being said, I don't think they'll go for a WR again. I think they'll either trade down or pick up someone like Joe Thomas for the o-line or Anderson out of Arkansas on the other side. If Millen had half a brain (which he's proven he doesn't), he'd do everything in his power to get his hands on Russell, but the Lions staff seem content with Kitna for some odd reason...I guess having a 34 year old QB who throws 22 ints is good enough for this group.

i imagine you're leaping the gun to call Johnson a bust, regardless of if Peterson at present looks the acceptable RB drafted interior the previous few years. I do see your factor about Russell and Johnson being overhyped, notwithstanding it remains early on of their careers, and easily, Johnson became the safest %. interior the draft for the Lions (his actual equipment besides as playmaking skill were too a lot to pass up). The Vikings honestly were given a scouse borrow with Adrian Peterson, yet he got here with truly some question marks at the same time as he became drafted, so I nevertheless imagine the Lions made the right %.. I envisioned Johnson doing extra appropriate than he's, yet he's a recommendations from "bust" prestige. For starters, maximum WR's do not do nicely their rookie year. Getting 1000 yards and 5 TD's is seen to be an excellent rookie season. Even Jerry Rice did not accomplish this. And at the same time as a receiver does accomplish this, it would not continually advise they're going to be the subsequent tremendous wideout (see Micheal Clayton). you're also neglecting the actual shown truth that he became injured in the course of the Eagles sport, and so his playing time became seriously constrained, and he even neglected a sport. earlier to that harm he became averaging 4 receptions, sixty 5 yards, and a TD in line with sport, which turned right into a really reliable %. for a rookie wide receiver. He is likewise one among 4 effective wide receivers in an offense with a qb who truly can not make reliable sufficient reads to fully take advantage of them. he will proceed to strengthen, and he ought to make sure extra appropriate numbers because the season is going on, and he's on the field extra. Rookie RB's have a tendency to make sure extra playing time and face a lot less hassle adjusting to the NFL, so Peterson's numbers ought to were extra appropriate from the starting up. The harm for Johnson more suitable skews the numbers. i imagine both will finally end up having very effective and helpful careers.

Looking at all the receivers they have taken in recent drafts I would say their is a good chance they will take Calvin Johnson. But I think they may take Joe Thomas instead but they do seem to like receivers.

Well, unless Millen is purposely trying to lose games, I would say the chances of detroit taking a WR is vitrually nil. With that being said, it wouldn't surprise me at all. I would hope that Millen is a smart enough man to go after somebody else, like an offensive lineman.

with Matt Millen in charge anything can happen. The chances are even greater after the comments he made to the Detroit free press today. I would not be surprised if they did draft another wide receiver. They need a QB!!!

if the lions take another reciver that would be absoluetly stupid! they took a reciever in 3 straight drafts. they shold definantly consider going up front (joe thomas) running back with kevin jones being out for a portion of next season (adrian peterson) or a youth movement at quarterback (brady quinn) but then again matt millen-the elgin baylor of the NFL!- is running the show so anything's possible.

They should take Brady Quinn...JaMarcus Russell is going to the Raiders...Brady Quinn will be the top QB in the draft...They have to start from the ground up...They do need linemen, on both sides...but I wouldn't waste a #2 overall on a lineman...There are plenty in the draft...

not too good, because they are gonna take joe thomas with their pick most likely...their needs on the line are just too great for them to avoid the position, roy williams is one of the best in football, and mike furrey just got a new extension
