Whatever you do, do NOT give him any honey. Honey can cause botulism in babies. First of all, how do you know he has a sore throat? Is his cry hoarse? During this time of year when there are so many viruses going around you should not give him anything and just make a doctors visit. It might not seem like much now but could quickly change to be something bad. It could be any type of respiratory infection which can be really harmful to babies under 2 months old. My son is 10 weeks, I took him for a visit because he was coughing and sounded like his throat hurt and the doctor found a respiratory infection, or some symptoms at this visit. Two days later he was having trouble breathing. It wasnt too bad because he got treated early but he has to use a nebulizer evrytime he has a stuffy nose or any sign of a cold because it could easily lead to pneumonia if left untreated. So, please visit your doctor so that he can give you a diagnosis and hopefully tell you its nothing and your baby will be just fine.

DO NOT GIVE A CHILD UNDER 1 YEAR OLD HONEY!!! NOR BABY ASPRIN!!!
(as previous posters wrote.)
Honey can cause botulism and asprin is linked to Reyes syndrom.

No offense meant, but how do you know your 2 month old has a sore throat? I assume she has a cold? For children that young there's not much other than saline spray in the nose, suctioning the nose, running a humidifier and keeping them a little more upright for congestion. (let them sleep in car seat or swing) Call your pediatrician if she/he's having problems breathing or coughing a lot.

Fist off, contrary to what one person said, you should never give Asprin to a baby, it can cause reyes syndrom and your pediatrician will tell you this also.

Honey is really not the best thing either, it can cause Botulism.

Generally the best thing would just be something to suck on. No hard candy/cough drops of course as thats dangerous.

If he doesn't have one already try a pacifier or a wet washcloth. And run a hummidifier at night. If you want to give her pain medicine call up your doctor and ask about baby advil or baby tylenol but a cold is really not that bad, its normal, everyone gets them even babies and pain medications don't cure the problem only mask it.

NO, Do not give the baby honey!!!! Honey can give babies botulism, and their immune systems are not able to handle it so it can be fatal!!! Call your pediatrician and see what he/she recommends, but do not ever give your baby honey, this applies until the baby is over 2 years old! Don't give your baby aspirin either, especially if there is a fever as it can cause Reyes syndrome. Infant Tylenol should be okay, but ask your Dr. about the proper dosage.

NEVER GIVE A BABY HONEY!!!! NEVER!!!

Honey and Corn Syrup both contain bateria in them that pose a risk for botulism in children under a year!!!

Talk to your doctor.

The only thing I can suggest is cool breast milk or cool formula to help ease the pain...Also the doctor may advise you to administer .8 or .4 ML of infant Tylenol...but please don't do ANYTHING until you've spoken to your doctor.

Botulism and Poisoning are WAY worse than a sore throat.

As you can see by the previous posts, honey and aspirin are unsafe for babies.

You can buy infant acetaminophen (tylenol) or ibuprofen (advil) at most pharmacies. There will be a dosage chart on the bottle which will tell you how much you can give your child. Look for a dosage chart based on weight, not age as these are more accurate.

DO NOT give honey.. you are not supposed to do that until at least a year, so who's the dummy now huh...... previous poster... I would call the baby's doc, and ask.... I really didn't have that problem until my son was around a year.... don't look for answers on her.. call the doc.. and if they are closed, call and talk to a nurse at the er..... that is what they are there for...
