Nope. Peanuts are neither a nut nor a pea. A peanut grows underground and is legume.
A peanut is not a BOAT either though. So I think that you might have put this question in the wrong category.

Although a nut in the culinary sense, in the botanical sense the fruit of the peanut is a woody, indehiscent legume or pod and NOT a nut.
Just like a coconut which is not a nut.
So, it's peaNOT. : )

They are sometimes called ground nuts, but they are not nuts. They do not grow on a tree, but a plants roots, under the ground.
