Golden Gate park is nice, but it's not really hiking.

I'd say if you're looking for green hills and lots of wildflowers, you're looking for Marin, just north of the Golden Gate bridge. Rolling hills, plus a great view of the city and the bay if you get lucky with the weather. Be sure to climb Mt. Tamalpias if you have time!

Other great places in Marin county are Muir Woods and Point Reyes, closer to the coast.

Muir woods is a beautiful place to hike. Golden Gate park also has a lot of really nice areas. Enjoyed both when I lived in San Francisco.
