the first sighn of pinball on the radar was a french game called bagatelle mostly enjoyed by nobility when the french came to americato help in the revolution they brought bagatelle with them
the actual first coin operated pinball machine was invented in ohio during the great depression it was in youngstown ohio in 1931 that a coin operated bagatelle called whiffle ball was born
everybody loved it then another game baffle ball was going head to head with whiffle ball for some serious competion well turns out close to 1941 this game was considered gamblingand all that junk that follows(IE concered members of society) basically wanted it to be illegealand in newyork payout"pinball" machines were banned. of course non payout ones were and the golden age of pinbal was from 1948 to 1958by then they had resumed their present day forms hand painted with colourful backlight and all sorts of whizzezs and pops going off in your ear they had astheic vaule just sitting therein the 1960'sits popularity slowed but contiuned with all sorts of differnet style machines coming out and state of the art technology they could just hypotize u 1969 pinball wizard the song by the whoand its accompanying movie starring elton johnwas a testament to the machines cult following now a days with everything from space invaders to virtual golf pinball machine sarent has popular as the use to be but now pinball machine collecting is quite a craze you can buy one for about 500 dollars
