Soak the affected foot, then, very gently, try to lift the nail, if you can do this, push a small piece of cotton under the nail. It will force the nail to grow out. Change the cotton every week.

It sounds gross but i've had this happen to me. I finally decide to go to the doctor to get it taken out. They give you 2 shots on both side of the toe with the ingrown toe nail. It was my big toe which had the ingrown nail so the doctor took out a huge chunk of nail. The shot hurt a little but I didn't feel anything afterwards. I was able to drive home but unable to wear closed toe shoe for about a week or two. You should get it taken out now. Otherwise, it will only get worse. Take Care!! Oh and after it heals, don't cut it too short anymore. Or it could lead to another ingrown toe nail...

Get some epsom salts and start soaking that toe. Then take a nail file (metal) or finger nail clippers and slowly start working the nail out of the skin. Do this only a little bit of it at a time. If you decide to go to the doctor, they numb it up (with a shot) and they take it off. It hurts for awhile. But doing it at home will take a lot longer to heal. Good Luck!

soak your foot in warm water first. In the area that's swollen between the nail and the skin: get a q-tip, remove one small piece of collon and form like a cotton ball. the push it in betwee the nail and the skin. leave it for 3 days then remove it. cut your nails in a straight fasion to avoid that.

I'm a nurse. The procedure is painless, you will have a local to numb the area. However you will have a dressing on the area and will have to change it. I think it will be fine, you will need to see a doctor for the care. Take care.
