Don't eat popcorn for a few month after...There is a hole left were the teeth were and after mine were taken out a couple weeks later I ate popcorn and the little skin thin got stuck in there and my mouth blew up like a balloon and they had to go in there and dig it out..So my tip would be to stay away from anything seedy like that for a while. Good luck!

It's not that bad. However, I don't want to scare you, but when they did mine, they left some of the tooth in. It's common for the teeth to splinter or break when they take them out.

Anyway, a piece of tooth was left in my gum and becuase they didn't see it, it got infected. Long story short (too late) they had to cut it out a few weeks later. THAT hurt a lot!

Make sure the dentist looks around the gum and that he got all of the tooth/teeth. You DO NOT want to have any leftovers.

Don't plan on going anywhere for the next few days if they're impacted. You'll have chipmunk cheeks.

Oh yeah, and if they're impacted you have to watch out for the holes that are left behind. Just skin flaps really, but stuff will get stuck in there. Better plan on using a swab after you eat.

My oldest son had his out last year and it was an easy thing. They put you out, take them out and send you home to rest. It actually sounds scarier than it is. If you stay up on your pain meds, (don't chase the pain) and sleep in a semi-upright position, like in a recliner, for the first few days it will help with the pain and swelling.
Good luck and pretty smiles ahead!

OUCH! My oldest just went through that a month or so ago make sure you have a few days to rest afterwards, rinse completely each meal you eat, follow the directions for proper foods, and meds.....and have someone look after you and drive you home.
Not to worry, you'll feel better within a few days.

1. Do what they tell you as far as dietary restrictions. You do NOT want to disturb the clots and get dry socket.
2. Use Tylenol and tough out minor pain. Save the opiates they prescribe for SIGNIFICANT pain, i.e. "it's impossible to sleep." Don't waste them on discomfort.

I remember waking up in the middle of my surgery to the sound of an ominous CRACK. The doctor looked at me and says "yes, that was you." Oh, alrighty. I went back into unconsciousness.

Hello, not to worry this is something I've done before and i'ts not as bad as everybody makes it out to be. Just try to relax and it will be over before you know it. Try to think of something other than being at the dentist when in the chair.

LOL That sucks...don't plan on going anywhere for 3 days and make sure your dentist gives you a prescription for pain killers. In other words...you will be swollen and have chipmunk cheeks and will be in quite a bit of pain.
