I find it disrespectful and completely tasteless when they are doing in cemeteries and Native American burial grounds looking for "ghosts".

I definately agree with you. Actually it should already be illegal for people to go onto sacred grounds. If it isn't then people should have more common descency. I think that it shouldn't be limited to ghosthunting though. If it is a sacred place then it should be off limits period unless have permission from the tribe. But people don't care. Take the Black Hills for example. The built Mt. Rushmore on it and people still visit there, like it is nothing. They don't mind honoring their history (the presidents) even though they are disrespecting the sacred ground of another people.

Why should Ghosthunters be banned from cemeteries when everyone else is allowed during visitation hours? Simple Ghosthunting only requires a voice and a camera. I've seen people, other than Ghosthunters, bring camera's to cemeteries. So, what would justify them and not Ghosthunters?

I have respect for Native Americans, but c'mon. There are billions of burial sites in the USA that are unrecognized. We build houses on them every day.

I would think that it would only be disrespectful if the people were disrespectful in the process. If someone wants to ghost hunt, they should have the decency to ask the owners before hand and to conduct themselves in a civilized manner while in the process. Simple rules would be to not walk on the graves or disturb the stones. No loud noises or music to disturb the neighbors. No horseplay. If you are conducting a scientific investigation, then do so in a proper manner. These rules would apply anywhere you wanted to hunt and will help people take you seriously as well.

I am an amature ghost hunter, I love old cemeteries. Not so much because of ghosts (lots of cemeteries that do not have any ghosts in them) but because they are peaceful, the headstones and statues are beautiful and fascinating.
Its illegal to be in a cemetery after dark so all ghost hunting in a cemetery would need to be done during daylight hours.

If someone's in the cemetery after dark - they either need permission from the owners to be there or they need to be reported to the authorities. Way too many disrespectful things are going on after dark in the cemeteries and it usually has nothing to do with ghost hunting.

Only if they leave a mess behind. As for violating the sanctitiy of cemetaries and the like, well, I don't believe there is anyone home because they have moved on to a MUCH better place free of the entrapment of a body lying rotting in the ground and returning to dust

Being native american myself, i dont really like having white people try and stir up my ancestors just for thier thrill. I think it should be banned in any sort burial grounds.

Well.....where would be the most obvious place to find a ghost? You guessed right...cemeteries!

No-one is trying to be disrespectful towards the dead...human nature is curious abouth death because we cannot get solid answers.

Disrespectful? Are you kidding?
Are the dead respectful to us?

All that jumping out on you with all that booing.
I mean, do they really think we are scared?

We've got one old bloke - used to live next door to me - died aged 93 about 4 years ago. Always had a great sense of humour - but I wasn't scared of him when he was alive, let alone now. Creeping around my house, moving things around - silly old bugger.

Nah - you go on your ghost hunts - let 'em have it right between the eyes.

Although come to think of it, it would go straight through, wouldn't it?

Mmmm - back to the drawing board.

Yes.I agree totally. I cant stand it when I see them dig up old body's just to study and Display them also.such as a few Weeks ago they dug up a couple in Italy embracing each other in their grave and they dug them up? that's horrible. My family's cemetery is the largest and one of the oldest in South Carolina, and if I caught some people on it ,disrespecting My peoples peace. I would get their names.call the law.run them off and get a no trespassing notice put on them right quick .People need to understand that the people who have passed on have rights also.
I called my state legislator and asked him to clarify & update.the existing cemetery law in South Carolina and also protect the old primitive cematarys especialy .he did.

No, I don't think it should be banned. Maybe I need an explanation of why to you this is disrespectful, cause I don't see how it could be.
