oooh! you in geometry?? i am. ok, look at they point you are given. the side not touching this point is the opposite side. Then look at the whole triangle. im assuming this is a right angle. the side opposite of the right angle is the hypotenuse and that should be the side connencting the 2 shorter legs. Then the adjacent is the leg next to your point that is not the hypotenuse. Good luck!

The hypotenuse is the side opposite the right angle (90 degrees).
The adjacent side is either side next to the side you are discussing.
The opposite side only applies to a side opposite to an angle since each side is adjacent to another in a triangle.
So, the hypotenuse is the opposide side of the right angle.
There is no opposite side relative to a side.

well it depends what angle you are looking at
(ignore the ...)

......................C
.......................|
.......................|
.......................|
.......................|
A----------------B

the hypotenuse is always the longest side (across from the right angle), so the hypotenuse is AC

If you are looking at angle A, side BC is opposite, and AB is adjacent

If you are looking at angle C, side AB is opposite and side BC is adjacent
