I am a liberal who doesn't hate anyone - conservative or liberal. I do disagree vehemently with some of our government's current policies and leaders - but don't wish anyone harm. Maybe it is in my "liberal" nature to try to see things from others' viewpoints. Sometimes I wish I could view things as black and white as some liberals and conservatives view them. I think the answer for unity is for ALL involved to treat others' opinions with respect and to resist the urge to generalize about groups of people. The real way to get your political opinions heard is very simple - VOTE. It worked for us liberals this last time around!

Hate is such a strong word! I don't hate either the Liberals nor the Conservatives. There seem to be a number of things that they do agree upon. The war for example. Both sides have different idea's of how best to run the country, that doesn't make either entirely wrong. I'm sure that many from both sides do make an effort to work together, more than we realize. They don't hate either, dislike maybe, but more realistically, they may hate the idea's or agenda the other side is pushing.

I don't hate liberals, just their train of thought. Or lack of it. I personally know a few. We just avoid political discussions.
As for how too overcome the difference, put America first. In this world we live in today, lets face it. Either we band together in the middle. Or there will not be an America to have a debate about. We have an enemy very united. Unlike us. Whats that tell you. And they have no intention of negotiating.

I'm a Dem and I hate being called lazy, a welfare case, uneducated, unpatriotic. None of that is true. I graduated from college with a BSBA, paid for it myself(worked my way through), worked all my life, took no assistance for government or charity, paid taxes, and certainly love my country. How do you debate such basic lies they portray as facts. Certainly all conservatives don't but we need to tell the people on both sides to stop it.

It seems that the 70% in the middle could agree on a lot-but I'm not sure people want to unite. The name calling and insults make it worse. It's good to debate but it's not good for the United States when it's reduced to what it has been. Of course they call us names at the highest levels of government(unpatriotic, helping the terrorists). I believe only a great leader could unite us.

No one hates anyone. Reagan, Herbert Walker, Clinton and now George W have allowed and encouraged foreign international conglomerates to move higher paying American industrial jobs to cheaper job markets, usually overseas without putting in legal protections to offset the damage to our industrial base in the form of tariffs on imported goods and services.

Other countries vigorously protect their economies, markets and people, in United States, since Reagan we don't. Our government, both liberal and conservative serve corporate interests, and not the people they govern.

Without Federal protection, the industrial base of the United States is doomed. Not just the MIddle class, the whole country. Without an industrial base, a modern country cannot equip its military or support its population.

Hopefully a politician with some sense addresses this issue before it is too late.

I don't hate liberals. I can't stand there ignorance! The only way to unite the country as you say is to try and inform the uninformed. The problem with that is they won't listen! They claim to be open minded, and free thinking and yet are completely closed to any ideas outside there narrow view. I look at things as a flow chart. Following logical steps and coming to conclusions based on real facts. A liberal will disregard the flow chart and skip right to whatever feels right. What seems right. Its such a strange way to think. Some people can think logically and critically and others can't. I am lucky, I can.

First of all I don't HATE anybody. But what I dislike about the liberals of this country are all the excuses and double standards.....

* Liberals lose an election, so it must be voter fraud.

* Liberals insist on raising our taxes, but only to pay for what the republicans charged up.

* Liberals support military action against Iraq, then oppose it when it comes time to start campaigning for the white house.

* So now liberals are against the war, but claim to support the troops, then vote against additional funding AND THEN complain tha the troops aren't properly equiped!

* Liberals publicize the rotten behavior of a few rotten republicans to make themselves look like the lesser of two evils, when Bill Clinton was impeached for lying over a sexual affair.

I'm just sick and tired of liberal nonsense and excuses. Republicans are not without fault, but I don't see them making the same ridiculous excuses that liberal democrats make. I am far from being a neocon republican. But these comments will no doubt earn me the title of "Bush supporting neofascist Nazi" by the so called "tolerant" liberals who read my response.

There is never an excuse to hate someone, Unless they did something really, really stupid...like start a war or something. But I don't hate either. Their both pretty stupid for taking to the extremes. They need to find common ground but seem to resist every attempt to do so. Each is too stubborn to let the other win instead of working together. Just my opinion.

Many liberals are sheeple people (the ones who believe 9/11 was carried out by cave dwelling Arabs carrying plastic knives), and most cons are too stupid to even be sheeple people.

The country will unite once we all admit the truth about 9/11 - that it was an inside job carried out by criminal elements within the Bush Admin with the help of the Israeli Mussad

I don't hate conservatives.I'm just tired at being called things like traitor and appeaser. It doesn't matter that I'm a Veteran or that I walk around with shrapnel in my body.I'm a Democrat,so I just got to be trying to undermine America.

The first step would be for the Republican Party to stop spewing hate constantly.
