I took the first response HPT today and would like your opinion. The first three minutes i waited, no line showed up. Within 5 minutes, i went to go toss the test away and noticed a very faint line, but grey. When i took a closer look, the edge of that second line had a pink spot. So i took another test 3 hours later but negative and no faint lines at all.. anyone had this happen? Ive had faint lines before with other HPT's and was not pregnant.

Home pregnancy tests can be difficult to interpret sometimes. Ususally the test will show up right away but sometimes when you are getting a very faint line you have to wait for the color streaking to pass. I have read that you are not supposed to read the test after 10 minutes because you can often see a faint line or an evap line. I huess it is caused from what the strip is actually made from. There is a website that someone suggested to me that was very helpful in de-coding the HPT puzzle. www.peeonastick.com I had a false positive last month and this was the first I had ever heard of somthing like this happening. Good Luck and I hope you get your baby very soon.

To me it sounds like you are probably seeing an evap line, or where the urine has begun to dry on the test.

First Response HPTs are notorious for disappearing positives. With any HPT it is generally a good rule that if the line does not appear in the suggested amount of time, then the test should be considered to be negative and any positive result occurring after the time period should be considered negative. If it shows a positive then I would wait a couple of days and retest because the HCG should have doubled or almost tripled in that amount of time. The manufacturer of First Response HPTs states that a positive test will remain on the First Response test for 48 hours. You may want to check out this website for a helpful HPT comparison, www.peeonastick.com. This website also shows pictures of many different brands of HPTs with positive and negative results as well as evap lines.

From personal experience, I have found the Dollar General Store HPTs to be just as accurate and easier to read than the more expensive name brand tests and for a dollar a test, it is easier to justify taking multiple tests. What I did was bought a bunch of the Dollar Store tests and would use those early on, before my period was due and then if I had a positive result then I would get a name brand to confirm the result. The results have always matched and I have not had any problems with false positives from these tests.

Test can do that, but most test say if a line hasnt showed up within 3 minutes than wait no more than 10 minutes, but if you want a postive answer, go have a blood test done. Ive been there, took the pregnancy test, and said faint postive than negative. but was actually pregnant., so Good luck.

The best thing to do is buy another test. Tomorrow morning when you get up, before you go to the bathroom, go and get a plastic cup that you can throw away. Pee in the cup and then take another test. Let the stick sit in the urine for about 10 seconds. You will get the best results if it is the first pee of the morning. That is when the hcg levels will be the highest. Hope all turns out

Have you checked the expiry date of the test? Is sounds a little strange to me. Usually even a feint line means you are pregnant! You can always have a blood test to be 100% sure! Goodluck

We have all seen how foreign countries make fun of the U.S. When our own citizens have no faith in our government, try to tear it down from the inside, ridicule our President, side with the enemy ... it's no wonder we have lost respect in the eyes of some. Think of how incredibly effective it would be if all Americans could stand together in support of the troops' efforts to liberate the oppressed and instill democracy! Forget politics, as Sarge said. Let them finish the job. Let them come home having succeeded, rather than having been defeated.
