It sounds like he is still hungry if he is sucking on his fingers. If you are breastfeeding you should spend 10 minutes on both sides then go back to the first side for another 5 min. Next time you should start on the other side that didn't get nursed from twice. After that make sure you burp him since if he has any gas in his tummy it can make him very uncomfortable. Try to say away from pacifiers since you will just have to break him of them later on which can be trying. My daughter is on day three without one and it has been a super long week. Good luck

No a comforter is not bad, you can't have the baby haning from your breast non stop. Fisrt make sure he's not still hungry, growing babies all eat different amounts, and need more during growth spurts. If he seems pretty full and doesn't want food per-say the he could begin sucking on his fingers but some people don't believe this is a good idea.

Babies that age just simply cannot calm themselves down alone, its common for them to suck for comfort so my suggestion would be to get him a pacifer. My son used a pacifier, had no nipple confusion and decided to stop using it all himself at one year of age.
Pacifiers don't caue teeth problems or anything like that so I would say go get him a few, you will be thankful you did.

I liked the Gerber gentle flex pacifier but there are lots of different choices.

Comforters are a pain especially as baby gets older and you want to just throw the thing away. My son had one in his mouth and the 'teat' dislodged. Luckily I was there and got it out of his mouth before he choked. He got a new one every few weeks after that.

Three boys all used them and no 'thumb sucking' which is a 1000 times worse for developing teeth because the thumb exerts much more pressure.....and hands get dirtier quicker.

Son 4, never wanted one. Never an issue.

3 months :) Thats a great age.

Sounds like he may have colic - a tummy ache. Also - are you sure he is getting enough to eat?
There are drops for colic but I didn't find they helped much. You need to hold and soothe your baby until he feels better. A pacifier is not the end of the world! Babies need to suck and you can control when it disappears for good. Get him through this bump in the road first!

I breastfed both my children for over a year. I would allow them to nurse on one side unitl they fell asleep.....then burp really good. Nurse on the other side until content. If you only nurse a few minutes, the baby is only getting the foremilk, which is watery and mainly to quench thirst. After a while, the hind milk comes in which is high in fat and nutrition for a growing infant, hence why I let them nurse on one side until they were satisfied, then set them to the other side, like the glass of milk you have after a peanut butter sandwich.

some babies are fussy eaters-he may jsut stil be hungry or else he didn't burp enough. Make sure he has a good burp after he eats. a pacifir isn't so bad just don't get him hooked on it=) if he is sitll fussy after trying those thigns try rubbing his back, talking and singing to him. babies really pespond to a mothers voice even if you don't think you can sing! seriously it works
hope this helped=) good luck. babies are loads of sweetness-enjoy!

It sounds like he may have a little gas. Be absolutely sure he burps after every time he eats. He will rest easier, and so will you.
