Joe(Jesus Christ) Montana at Qb( My Dad used to yell "Jesus Christ he threw another TD after he made three defenders miss him!) and Paul Hornug at RB(Played on the packers first 2 SB's) Bettis was also quite Good.

To the people who said Rick Mirer: please send me ALL of your Pain Killers, so you can re-watch your tapes comparing Mirer to Montana without being under the influence.....

I would say the best quarterback in Notre Dame history is Brady Quinn. You could make a strong arguement for Rick Mirer, who was drafted 2nd overall to the Seahawks some years ago. Brady is a better player and holds more Notre Dame records.

The best running back is probably Jerome Bettis. He was an incredible back to watch in college, and for a guy his size to go 10th overall is just amazing to me. Allen Pinkett and Julius Jones had good careers there too.

QB is easy...He is the greatest QB ever in the NFL, too...Joe Montana...I think the greatest RB in the history of ND is probably Vegas Ferguson, Jerome Bettis, or Allen Pinkett, the latter who was stuck on bad teams under Gerry Faust...

We talking college careers? For QB it's Tony Rice. He was the star qb on a 23 game winning streak, ten of which were against ranked opponents. He also holds the NCAA record for 9 career victories against top ten teams. Also finished as nat'l champions in '88.

I know he didn't even play in the NFL (In fact of the 22 starters on the '88 team, Tony was the only one not to play NFL ball), but I'm talking college career.
